ROADSENSE

Industry standard evaluation framework for new Human Vehicle Interactions strategies

RoadSense is a European 5th Framework Programme project which has been accepted for funding under the Key Action 'Competitive and Sustainable Growth'.

The overall aim of RoadSense is to establish a framework for the co-ordination of European research in the area of Human Vehicle Interfaces (HVI), and from this to develop an industry Code of Practice for the Design and Validation of HVI.

The main objective of RoadSense is to develop an industry standard evaluation framework for new Human Vehicle Interactions strategies with a specific focus on
Human Machine Interfaces. RoadSense aims to deliver Guidelines for the methods of HVI tests that measure the effects on driver behaviour that any single technology, or combination of technologies, will have.

The start date for this project is February 2001. The project run as proposed for 3 years, and it is anticipated that the framework will continue to develop and lead HVI issues beyond the life of RoadSense phase I.
